Indiana High School Equivalency Information

Indiana currently uses the HiSET and GED exams for the high school equivalency exam. Effective July 1, 2023, TotalTranscript combines candidate test scores from previous tests, TASC, HiSET, and GED (results beginning January 1, 2014 to present), to achieve a credential.

Exam Information

The Vigo County School Corporation offers the Indiana High School Equivalency Exam. Indiana residents 18 years and older can register for the HSE Exam. 16 & 17 year olds can take the HSE Exam with the signature of the superintendent.

Register in person at the Adult Learning Center housed within the Vigo County School Corporation Learning Lab located at 55 S. Brown Avenue in Terre Haute. You will need to bring two forms of identification. One of the IDs must be a government-issued picture ID. Cost for the exam is $144 and must be paid at registration. Payment for GED must be made with a credit or debit card. A spot for the exam is not secured until you register and make your payment. Registration is on on a first come, first served basis.

Adult Basic Education

The Vigo County School Corporation offers FREE classes to help you develop your skills in Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies and Science in order to prepare for the High School Equivalency test. To attend classes, you must be at least 16 years old and not be enrolled in regular school. Students under 18 must provide a completed exit interview form from their previous school. Potential students must also attend an orientation before going to class. See the information below about class locations and times and how to sign up today.

Request your Transcripts

It is important to keep track of your records. New testers will receive one copy of their transcript and diploma at no cost. The Vigo County School Corporation will not be able to provide duplicate records. All records requests must go through Diploma Sender. This includes duplicate transcripts and diplomas as well as employment verification forms. There is a fee for the service.
